Doing a forced rotation to regen my resource is a forced rotation that doesn’t feel good like D2 rotations where I use alternate skills for utility, extra damage, or alternate damage source.Setting the Server Slam's level cap at 20 while still keeping Ashava at 25 feels like a form of bullying. When people complain about D3 cooldowns in regards to D4, the underlying issues are resources that don’t allow for spamming because they regen via a rotation and the controls don’t compliment spamming. Maybe slightly faster for that one time you want to cast ice nova that has a 10 second cooldown because the developers can’t figure out how to put resource management into Diablo - because there is no resource management and because there are skill bars in Diablo 3 it makes D2 spam impossible. Also, for one time skills such as passive skills or cloak of shadows, a person can click with both hands at about the same speed (or hold rclick when you press the button). If you already have to aim the skill it’s the same speed. If you’re only using 1-2 then hotbars are equally as fast. Soon as you’re regularly using more than 2 abilities hotbars become faster. Hotbars are simply faster in all those 10+ skill builds that the Diablo 2 fanatics are quick to rush in and tell everybody all about whenever the topic of the 6 skill limit pops up. You can try to argue that is somehow clunkier, but at this point your argument has little to it beyond “But I prefer the other way”. The hotbar system is faster when using more than 2 skills due to the fact that you don’t need multiple button presses to do it. You should already be able to easily move to use a consumable in either system.Įspecially considering that, unlike WoW, we don’t use the keyboard for movement in Diablo. If your hands are on the button for switching, then it’s not much of a change that they’re on the same button for simply using the ability. There could still be a bar for consumables or whatever. Maybe spamming skills when you have 30 is more reasonable in a game like WoW on a hotbar, but for Diablo which often spams 3-5 skills I’d argue that the skillbarless system of D2 is superior. Yes, I’d rather have my hand available to switch skills or use a potion instead of holding down a button to spam the skill.
